Jos Buttler set his sights on becoming an international cricketer after watching India's batsmen enjoy themselves against Sri Lanka in the 1999 World Cup at Taunton and has since developed into a highly-rated batsman-wicketkeeper.

He has always had a knack for taking his opportunities, which was underlined when he scored a determined 30 on his first class debut for Lancashire in 2009 after being called into the side following an injury to Justin Langer.

Buttler built on that momentum by playing all seven matches during England under-19s tour of Bangladesh later that year and averaged a respectable 30 in the youth World Cup in New Zealand in early 2010.

Handed another opportunity during the early stages of the 2010 domestic season, Buttler hit his maiden first class century in only his fourth first class match against Hampshire after replacing fellow ISM stablemate Craig Kieswetter in the side while he was on England duty for the ICC World Twenty20 tournament in the Caribbean.

He went on to score a superb 144, which included 16 fours and a six, having brought up the century milestone by hitting old friend and ISM colleague James Vince for four in the final over of the third day at the Rose Bowl.

Jos Buttler's appetite for international cricket was whetted in May 1999 when he watched India's batsmen pile on the runs against Sri Lanka in their World Cup encounter at Taunton. A decade later, he made his first-class debut for Somerset, and produced a composed 30 against Lancashire. He built on that experience by playing in all seven matches in the Bangladesh-England series in October 2009, making a top score of 42, and was deemed good enough to represent Somerset in the Champions League Twenty20 tournament in India
